A family member referred me to CCCSMD. I called in to explain my financial situation and I was able to decrease my monthly payments. I praise myself for FINALLY completing [my DMP] in October 2021…paying off credit card debts and staying committed to the program even if there were several financial obstacles in the way. I would definitely recommend anyone going through financial struggles…contact CCCS of MD for your financial assistance.

2021 Accomplishments

NFCC Housing Client of the Year Award

In October 2021, one of our clients won the NFCC Award of Excellence in the Housing Counseling category. Facing the possibility of losing his home, the client received comprehensive counseling and support from CCCSMD Financial Advocates who were able to reach the goal of keeping the client in his home. The client and our Financial Advocates were featured in the NFCC Awards Ceremony held in November 2021.

Expansion of our National HUD Intermediary

CCCSMD’s status as a National HUD Intermediary was awarded in 2018 and the work to grow our Intermediary network started immediately. Through the hard work of the CCCSMD team, along with strong collaborative efforts with other housing counseling agencies, we successfully doubled the size of our network and were awarded over $2.5M in federal funding in 2021. This funding will allow us to serve renters and homeowners in danger of losing their housing throughout 2022 and into 2023.

Expansion of our Bilingual Capability

We continuously review the needs of consumers with Limited English Proficiency in the communities we serve. When appropriate, we seek staff with skills that align with the needs of the communities. As a result, CCCSMD recently hired three additional bilingual (English/Spanish) counselors who devote their time to financial counseling and specific outreach to underserved Hispanic communities in MD, FL and CA.

What is Being Said About CCCSMD

First Time Home Buyer

We would highly recommend attending the First Time Homebuyer course! My husband and I were finally ready to start the home buying process for the first time and weren’t sure where to start. We found it so helpful. The instructor was the best! Dedicating several hours on a weekend can be challenging but she was engaging, enthusiastic, funny and very knowledgeable! The day flew by, and we learned so much. We also appreciated being able to hear from various resources like the realtor, lender and home inspector. With such a crazy year we weren’t sure buying a home would be a reality, but it was, and we found a perfect home! Everyone should take advantage of this amazing opportunity and resource.
