At CCCSMD, we believe you deserve quality financial guidance that is both convenient and easily accessible. This is why we recently launched online counseling, to supplement our in-person and telephone counseling services! You can now work online with a Financial Advocate to get personalized credit, debt, and housing solutions when you have a free moment.

How Does it Work?

When you are ready to get started, all you‘ll have to do is create an account in our online portal and complete the initial intake process. We will ask information about your income, expenses, assets, and debts. You can take as much time as you need to complete this step, by logging back into your account as many times as you want. The more complete your intake is, the more solutions we will have for you and the more comprehensive your action plan will be.  Once your intake is complete, your information is routed to one of our Financial Advocates.

Will a real person be giving me advice?

Absolutely! After completing the online intake, the rest of the online counseling process will be done with a real-life Financial Advocate.  Your communication will be with them from their individual CCCSMD email address, and you will have the ability to email back and forth as much as you want.

What if I change my mind and want to talk to my Financial Advocate over the phone?

No problem! Some situations and decisions might be more complicated than others, or you may just feel more comfortable reviewing your action plan over the phone. At any point in the process, you can request a call from your Financial Advocate, or you can call our main line directly at (800) 642-2227.

Are there any costs for the online counseling?

Nope! It is free to create an account, complete the online intake and get personalized solutions from a Financial Advocate.  As a nonprofit credit and housing counseling agency, we work hard to provide low or no cost services to all our clients.

What is a Debt Management Plan?

If debt is one of your main financial concerns, our Financial Advocates may recommend a debt management plan.  If they do, they provide you lots of information to make sure you understand the plan and help get you started as soon as possible.  In the meantime, you can learn more about the Debt Management plan HERE.

How’s it going so far?

We did a soft launch of the online portal a few weeks ago and things have been going great so far! We have already helped over a hundred people with financial counseling and have recommended over a hundred Debt Management Plans.

Our Financial Advocates shared some of their experiences with online counseling:

“Finances are like a puzzle, the more pieces a client provides to us in their online intake, the better we can see the whole picture and provide solutions.  The online counseling gives our clients a chance to sit down and think about their current situation and provide us with accurate information, which helps us build better action steps to help them make the right financial decisions now and going forward.” – Christina

“Clients can conveniently complete the intake in their own time and still receive the expertise of a financial counselor providing them recommendations and resources to achieve their financial goals.” – Shannon

Gaining financial independence has never been easier and we can’t wait for you start! We would welcome your feedback, so please feel free to email us at info@cccsmd.org.
